HOWMANY OF
YOU REMEMBER
the original DCTP Art Gallery?
The miniscule art collection consisted of about 6 links to about
6 pictures in a tiny little "Miscellaneous" place. How many of you
remember when the Skull Knight HIMSELF went on an art kick and stole all
my pics to hone his painting skills? What a loser! I boiled him
in the blood of a thousand zombies, broke his sword, and made him the
Skull Warrior with a katana as a weapon.
He
was still acting up, so in November of 1997, I went to The CastleVania
Dungeon, where THE MAN, Slogra, was stationed,
and consulted him about guarding my Arts. He agreed to the non-pay
job, and at members.aol.com/SlograSaur/, "Slogra's Art Show" premiered.
So Slogra was doing his thing for a while, gaining 2, no, 3 loyal followers
(you know who you are), and then his job was abruptly obliterated in June
of 1998 during some unlimited web space negotiatons only three knew
of...
October of that year, the DCTP Fan Art Gallery found itself steady at
dragonzamasu.8m.com/art/gallery.html, space given by the Freeservers site
and initially registered at NYIT.
On Sunday night, July 23rd, 2000, I was fortunate enough at the end of
my week off to rediscover FortuneCity, which currently gave away 100MBs
of web space. Dracula's Curse THE PAGE!!! would move to the location
by the middle of that week, tailed closely by the CastleVania III Dracula's
Curse THE PAGE!!! Fan Art Gallery!!
Dated Neon Genesis Evangelion jokes aside, unless you've been in Terminal
Dogma gawking at Rei # 4~192791 nude for the past few months...oops.
I forgot to overwrite the outdated Evangelion joke! Anyway,
...you'll recognize that the below links will take you to what you want
to see. The pictures! You've gotta have the pictures!
CLASSIC
Before the ferocious Skull
Knight's gaping grin accompanied his Nintendo sprite at The CastleVania
Dungeon, and before Hideously Evil Slogra ripped fear from you along
with the rest of your throat, there were 1991, CastleVania III, a pen,
and papers. We all have our beginnings, and some years after I began to
draw, I reached this point.
WARNING: TIME WARP PROCEDURE ACTIVE.
YOU'D BETTER DO SOMETHING TO GET READY.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT, JUST THINK OF SOMETHING.
ERIC
ROMAN AD NAUSEUM
In
1997, The CastleVania Dungeon's Fan Art section had only 3 or 5 graphics;
2 were very nice CG's. Dracula's Curse continued to spawn around
that time, and I didn't know how to use emulators to grab sprite shots
(neither did I have a reliable GIF generator). My plan was
to hand draw every bad guy as close as possible to their in-game
appearance. Lo and behold, the first big surge of CV Fan Arts at the Dungeon
consisted of some hand drawn snippets and a couple made in Paint
with a mouse. Here, we have a PHAT collection of my own
drawings, bitmaps, sketches, and touch-ups. The monstrous CastleVania
baddies are my specialty.
RUFF
HAS THE STUFF
During the mid-summer of
1997, an unstoppable juggernaut named RUFF tore a mark into the CastleVania
Dungeon's Fan Art section. My personal title as major CV Fan Art
contributor became seriously wounded with his contributions for the Dungeon,
which were CastleVania (CV3, especially) scenes, rendered extremely
well by his hand and mouse. I was puzzled as to why the artist
himself never told me about it. Indeed, DCTP has been around
four months less than the CVD, but still... I remember feeling competed
against when I saw "...and yet ANOTHER work from Ruffs in the Art Section!"
on the Dungeon's updates list. I was jealous of his mouse skill,
wasn't I... Was I being replaced? Find out, and scope out Ruff's
excellent GIF-ed CastleVania bitmaps, here!
FAN DESU
This is how the rest of us do
business. A Fan Art assortment of numerous styles and formats occupy
this new section of the Fan Art Halls.
